I’ve loathed phrases and other people asking for us “to all get on the same page” because that necessitates forgetting our distinctions and negating our history. So, I feel equanimous when I read Paul Callaghan write how “The Dreaming Path does not intend to replace or position itself above any of these sources of inspiration and guidance. It aims to be a vehicle of transformation that sits alongside them.” (Page 11)
I’ve been confounded by the fallacy of the same page because it is an example of collapsing the divergence of our diversity into a squashed sameness that loses the vastness of our varieties.
Rather than arriving on the same page, I wonder whether more accurate descriptions would be:
- Can we come together for the sake of agreement?
- Let us coordinate in our actions or language.
- Slow down in order to arrive at consensus.
