I learned about Occam’s Razor this morning, which originally described as: when choosing between options, the simpler or simplest is preferable.
Then, I looked to Wikipedia, which described Occam’s Razor as the principle of parsimony, and gave these two examples to illustrate:
- “Entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity”
- “prefer the hypothesis that requires the fewest assumptions.”
When I heard this, I knew what the answer for the largest question looming in my life in this May of catharsis. As last month ended, I described April as wild, May as cathartic.
catharsis (noun): catharses, plural
- the purging of the emotions or relieving of emotional tensions, especially through certain kinds of art, as tragedy or music.
- Medicine/Medical. purgation.
- Psychiatry.
- psychotherapy that encourages or permits the discharge of pent-up, socially unacceptable affects.
- discharge of pent-up emotions so as to result in the alleviation of symptoms or the permanent relief of the condition.
I gotta use purgation in a sentence this holiday weekend. And the creativity of grinding wood or gluing animal shapes and marine life from user cardboards into piñatas for the summer birthdays.
